I am going home for a little over a month to help out around the house, along with some other things that I need to do. My flight leaves at 7:55 CST tonight. I have been here at the airport since 11 am. I wouldn’t normally make the decision to get here so early, but that is the only time my ride could take me, so here I am.
After waiting for an hour to check-in (the kiosk wouldn’t let me check in as early as I wanted to), I went through security. It went extremely fast, though it probably would have gone a lot more so if I didn’t have so much on me (a sweater, a winter coat, three books, and a laptop that I needed to take out of my backpack, not to mention everything I had to take out of my pockets). As soon as I got through, I realized that I had misplaced my boarding pass. Thankfully, the person at the gate was able to print out a new one for me, therefore saving me from having a heart attack. I’m pretty sure having one of those in the middle of an airport would be bad.
After sitting for a little while, I decided it was time to get something to eat. Wendy’s was sounding really good right about then, so I decided to head on over there and ordered some food. To my delight, my fries were absolutely amazing. Crisp, brown, and salty. I really should have bought a Frosty to dip the fries in, but alas, I did not.
Now, almost four hours later, I am still here in the airport, sitting right where I ate lunch. I haven’t moved from my seat for the last three hours. I watched an episode of Arrow and have written 1,000 words which puts me at a current word count of 50,164. It’s a great feeling to be getting this far in the story. I get to introduce a new culture and quite a few new characters, one of which I am quite sure I will enjoy writing quite a bit. I also have a short story that I plan on working on while I am waiting to board my flight that I will be sharing sometime in the next week or about that time, so keep an eye out for that!
What about you? What is the longest you have stayed at an airport? Did you have any interesting experiences? Tell me about them in the comments below!
Yay french fries and working at airports!
I was in the same situation many years ago. I was on vacation in Florida and the only time my friend could get me to the airport was quite a few hours before my flight left. That isn’t something I would have to deal with all the time.
WANT to have to deal with all the time that is. LOL.
