After five long years of waiting, we finally have a new album from Les Friction, and I was lucky enough to be sent a copy by the group for review. I know, reviewing music isn’t what I do on this site, but this is a special exception because Les Friction’s music, beginning with their self-titled debut album, tell a cohesive, interconnected story. So it is a book in some sense.
Just like their first album, the group displays a unique sound with emotional lyrics and relentless pieces of epic orchestral music that sends shivers down your spine.
The title track, Dark Matter, is by far my favorite song from the album. Other standouts include “Who Will Save You Now”, “This Is a Call”, “Firewall”, and “Your Voice”.
“I Remember” feels a little disjointed from the rest of the album, but this doesn’t mean that it isn’t a good song. Because it is.
Dark Matter is a great album that I have listened to multiple times all the way through and will definitely do it again.
Les Friction has finally come back. I just hope it doesn’t take another five years to hear something new from them.
Note: I received a copy of the album in exchange for an honest review from the artist. All thoughts and opinions are mine.
